Tips & Advice

Are your products tested on animals?

We don’t test any of our products on animals, and we do not retail in Countries (which requires animal testing on products imported and sold from overseas).

Are your products suitable for sensitive skin?

Our products are suitable for all skin types. It is occasionally possible that very sensitive skin can react to high concentrations of essential oils, so if you have any concerns we recommend you carry out a patch test before using.

How should I incorporate Midas Touch Face Serum into my skincare routine?

Midas Touch Face Serum can be used day and night, and should be used under or instead of your moisturiser, always applied to freshly cleansed skin.

Is Brilliance Facial Oil suitable for oily/combination skin?

We recommend Brilliance Facial Oil for brightening, hydrating and balancing all skin types, even oily and combination. Formulated with lightweight plant oils, it sinks quickly and easily into the skin, and contains essential oils known for their ability to regulate oil production (lemon, lavender and mint).

How should I use Moringa Cleansing Balm?

Moringa Balm should be applied directly to the skin and emulsified with water before removing: take a 5 pence piece-sized amount and massage into your skin using the Emma Hardie ‘lines not circles’ technique. To remove, soak a cleansing cloth in warm water, squeeze out the excess and gently wipe over face and neck, taking care around the delicate eye area.

Some people prefer a lighter texture for their morning cleanse. If so, add a few drops of water to a 5 pence piece-sized amount of balm in the palm of your hand to make a milky lotion.

What does ‘lines not circles’ mean?

‘Lines not circles’ is the method used to remove and apply all Emma Hardie skincare products, and the technique used for at-home facial massage.

Using short, downward strokes rather than circles works with the natural grain of your facial tissues, encouraging a fresher, healthier, and younger-looking skin, improving circulation and lymphatic drainage, and bringing up moisture from the lower levels. To see lines not circles in action, please visit our video tutorials here.

Are your products natural?

Emma Hardie formulations are developed using high-grade, skin-friendly and powerfully anti-ageing ingredients harvested from the natural world. They are free from parabens, silicones, synthetic colours and fragrances, petrochemicals, mineral oil, sulphates, animal ingredients and skin-sensitising ingredients such as Retinal and Glycolic.

Can I use Emma Hardie when pregnant?

All Emma Hardie products are safe to use during pregnancy. However some women prefer to avoid essential oils during their pregnancy. If in doubt, speak to your midwife or medical practitioner.

I'm new to Emma Hardie, which product should I start with?

We recommend starting with Moringa Cleansing Balm, which helps to balance, repair, nourish and brighten all skin types, and restores a natural glow. It’s also the perfect product for at-home facial massage (see here for video tutorials).

I have a nut allergy, can I still use Emma Hardie?

We use many natural plant oils in our skincare, including almond oil in our Moringa Cleansing Balm. If you know or suspect you have a sensitivity to any ingredient, please read the listings on our packaging or website and consult your medical practitioner before using.

Is there anything else I can do with my Moringa Balm?

Moringa Balm can be used anywhere on the face or body that needs nourishing, healing and regenerating. Try it on dry or rough areas such as shins, knees and heels; on bumpy upper arms; dry and brittle eye lashes and unruly brows.

Does your skincare contain SPF?

We haven’t included SPF in our moisturisers as they are intended to be used day and night as required. However, protecting your skin from sun damage is central to our anti-ageing skincare philosophy, so we recommend Emma Hardie Protect and Prime SPF30, which offers eight hours of broad spectrum protection and can be worn instead of or over your moisturiser to protect your skin from UVA and UVB, and the environmental damage caused by pollution.
